Safe Sitters® Summer Classes Graduate

FirstLight Health System’s hugely popular Safe Sitter® program continues to attract area students.  The most recent class was held in Braham.  Eighteen students attended class at Braham Community Education in Braham, MN.  Students were from Cambridge, Isle, Stanchfield, Pine City and Braham.

Safe Sitter® is the only national not-for-profit course that is solely devoted to babysitting training. This course was written by Dr. Patrician Keener who is a board certified Pediatrician and Neonatologist. It is the mission of Safe Sitter® to prepare young adolescents for the profound responsibilities of nurturing and protecting children. The organization believes in the intrinsic worth of all children from infancy through adolescence; also in the importance of protecting the health and welfare of children. This includes providing nurturing, positive experiences. There are over 150 documented lifesaving cases among graduates.

FirstLight Health System is in the 6th year of teaching this course.  Safe Sitter® is designed for boys and girls ages 11-13.  To date, we have graduated 595 students through the program!  Last year the instructors received recognition for being among the top 25 Safe Sitter® teaching sites throughout the United States.

FirstLight Health System is the only local provider for the Safe Sitter® program and just one of five throughout Minnesota.
