The Laboratory Services department at FirstLight Health System is comprised of a team of skilled and experienced professionals who are committed to providing the highest quality of care to our community. Laboratory testing is essential to providing high quality patient care. The results from lab tests allow physicians to detect disease earlier, plan appropriate treatments and monitor results. FirstLight Health System offers lab tests from routine lipid and cholesterol screenings to highly complex, technologically advanced tests.
Laboratory services is a department that plays an integral role in the diagnoses and treatment of our patients. Approximately 70 % of the data that providers use to diagnose and treat patients is provided by the Laboratory Services department. FirstLight Health System’s Laboratory Service’s department provides a comprehensive menu of tests, a well equipped laboratory that is staffed 24 hours a day 7 days a week, and a caring and compassionate team of professionals.
The Laboratory Services department holds itself to the highest standards of patient care, undergoing rigorous inspection processes. FirstLight Health System’s laboratory services department holds a High Complexity Laboratory CLIA (Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendment) License under the Center for Medicare and Medicaid services. The Laboratory Services department is inspected bi-annually by the COLA, an inspection agency who reports the scores back to CLIA and the Joint Commission agencies. In addition to the external inspection processes performed, the Laboratory Services department implements daily “quality control” testing of all our instruments and test systems to verify they are performing optimally and to ensure all results are accurate.
